ARCHAEOLOGY : VIKING SETTLEMENTS
Karl Christenson's sheep farm at Tasiussaq is on the site of a Viking farm settled a thousand years earlier Peter Hunt and Susannah Clark spent 10 days at the end of the Expedition looking for Viking Settlements and travelling light. They walked from Stordalens Havn over the Big Valley (Itivdlerssuaq) to the sheep farm at Tasiussaq, then across to Amitsuarssuk Fjord, back and south to a second sea-inlet also called Tasiussaq, and south down the western shores of the peninsula to Herjolfnaes, returning by the eastern shores and eventually back to Basecamp. As well as seeking Viking Settlements they were trying to understand what Viking life was like along these northern shores. They have written two reports: SURVEY REPORT - by Peter Hunt PERSONAL ACCOUNT - by Susannah Clark
